Tear old fabrics into strips for making rag rugs, quilts, wall hangings, or knit/crochet the strips in the rugs bags, baskets, or anything else that comes to mind. You can also use sheets of fabric for fun canvases, wrapping paper, book covers and unique lamp shades. Felt wool sweaters and use them as fabric for bags, hot pads, hats, etc.
