Natural connections. That's one guiding principle behind my work. In general, it's been the very act of sculpting that has determined the essence of the piece itself. At the core, I've tried to create and pursue processes that yield assemblage art. What I do is a combination of collection, sorting, and assembling found items. Small things, on the ground or in the recycling. Forms whose intricacy couldn't exist without...industry, sprawl, over-consumption, mechanization, waste, demolition. I also like craft supply finds at yard sales. The source is important, since environments lend unique aesthetics to materials. Further, it's the natural connections that are made between disparate objects that is important. No glue. Except in some cases, notably with googly eyes, I didn't need to use any glue. All the connections are physical and coincidental. Some sculptures have taken years to assemble, since the right pieces didn't coincide at the right times. Others were made in a day.
